Who we are

TDR Electrical Ltd ("TDR", "we") is the data controller for the personal data described here. Registered in England & Wales, company number 16587666, registered office Unit 3 Chiltern Court, Asheridge Road, Chesham HP5 2PX. Contact us about anything in this policy at info@tdrelectrical.co.uk or on 01732 655003.

What we collect, and why

When you enquire or book

Your name, phone number, email address, the property address, what you tell us about the job, any photos you attach, and, for a callback, the time you would like us to ring. We use this to respond to you, quote, book and carry out the work, and to keep the records the job needs, such as test certificates.

Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and then performing that contract. Certificates and Building Regulations notifications are kept because the law requires it.

When you use the instant estimate

The estimate tool runs in your browser. Your answers sit in the page address so the Back button works, and they are not sent to us or stored until you choose to press a button that opens our booking form or an email. At that point they travel with your enquiry and are handled as described above.

When you sign up for emails

If you ask for the landlord's checklist or an EICR expiry reminder, we collect your email address and, if you give them, the month your current report expires and the property postcode. We use these to send the checklist and to remind you before the report runs out. We send marketing emails only if you tick the separate box asking for them. The box is never ticked for you.

Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you at any time. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw whenever you like.

When you call us

We keep a record of your number and what the call was about so we can call you back and book the work. If we use a call-tracking number to see which advertising works, the call may be logged with its source. We will tell you at the start of the call if it is being recorded.

When you use the website

The site itself sets no cookies. If you accept analytics on the cookie banner, Google Analytics sets cookies so we can see which pages bring in work. If you choose "Essential only", nothing is set. You can change your mind by clearing the site's data in your browser. Lawful basis: your consent.

Separately, when you tap our phone number, open a booking or enquiry form, click our email address or get an online estimate, the site records that it happened: which button, on which page, the page your visit started on, the website that sent you (for example Google), and whether you were on a phone or a computer. It sets no cookie. To remember the first page of your visit it keeps a short note in the browser tab, which is deleted when you close the tab. It records nothing that identifies you: no name, number, email or IP address. We use it to count which pages bring in enquiries. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in knowing which parts of the website work.

Where your data goes

  • ServiceM8, our job management system, holds every enquiry, quote, booking, photo, certificate and invoice. ServiceM8 is an Australian company; data is stored on their infrastructure under standard contractual safeguards for international transfers.
  • Google (Calendar for diary bookings, Analytics if you consent). Our Google reviews are fetched by our own server, so reading them tells Google nothing about you. Reviewers' profile photos, where shown, load from Google.
  • FreeAgent for invoicing and accounts.
  • Mailchimp (Intuit Inc., United States) sends the checklist, reminders and any marketing emails you have asked for. Data is transferred under the UK International Data Transfer Agreement and standard contractual clauses. Mailchimp may record whether an email was opened.
  • Microsoft 365 for email and file storage.
  • NAPIT and Building Control, to register notifiable work as the law requires.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with anyone for their marketing.

How long we keep it

Job records, certificates and invoices are kept for six years after the work, because tax law and our guarantees require it. Enquiries that do not become jobs are deleted after twelve months. Analytics data is kept for fourteen months. Email sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you, and reminder details are deleted once the last reminder has been sent unless you stay subscribed.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the data we hold on you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we no longer need it, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent for analytics at any time. Email info@tdrelectrical.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
